Vacant is the embodiment of Cultural Placeology.
It explores how spaces become places through cultural engagement. Through three interconnected domains—Centre (space), Multiple (objects), and Works (relations)—it takes shape in diverse forms of placemaking.

Profile
Yusuke Nagai, founder of Vacant, has spent over fifteen years exploring space as a medium since establishing his first project space in Harajuku in 2009. Through exhibitions, objects, writing, and dialogue, he has expanded placemaking into diverse forms of cultural practice. Guided by Cultural Placeology, he continues to explore the relationship between culture and everyday life.
Vacantを主宰する永井祐介は、2009年に原宿で最初のプロジェクトスペースを立ち上げて以来、15年以上にわたり、空間を媒体として、展覧会やイベント、ものづくり、執筆、対話など、多様な文化実践に取り組んできました。 その活動を通して生まれた〈文化空間学〉を手掛かりに、日々の暮らしと文化との関わりを見つめながら、より良い文化的循環のあり方を探求しています。
