韓国に生まれ、現在は日本と韓国を拠点に制作を行う白涍園（ベック・ヒョワン）による『美しき影』を開催します。今回4年ぶりとなる個展では、この世界に溢れる自然、または超自然的な美しさと、自身の内なる記憶をテーマに描かれた新作を展示します。

書画の筆先に、文字という記号を越えた風月が込められるように、彼女の引く線の交わりから生まれる、抽象と具象が混成する絵画からは、幾重もの風景の輪郭が浮かび上がります。その筆致は、美しさと切り離すことのできない「影」と向き合い、万物が両義的であることを顕そうとする試みでもあります。

白涍園（ベック・ヒョワン）

1991年韓国・ソウル生まれ。2011年に来日し、武蔵野美術大学大学院造形研究科を卒業。現在は東京と韓国を拠点に活動。これまでの個展「BAROQUE」AL （東京, 2019）、「dialogue」AL（東京, 2017）。グループ展「Silent Resonance」Galerie Lulla（LA, 2023)、「The Organic Society of Lines and Colors Chapter 1」UNDER the PALMO（神奈川, 2020)など。

Vacant will present Tangible Shades by Hyoweon Baek, born in South Korea and currently lives and works in Japan and South Korea. In her first solo exhibition in four years, the artist will present new works drawn on the theme of the natural or supernatural beauty that abounds in this world and her own inner memories.

Just like the tip of a brush in calligraphy can express the wind and moon beyond the symbols of letters, the paintings that emerge from the interplay of her lines, a mixture of abstract and figurative, reveal the contours of multiple landscapes. The brushwork is an attempt to confront the “shadow,” which is inseparable from beauty, and to reveal the ambivalence of all things.

Hyoweon Baek

Born 1991 in Seoul, South Korea, she came to Japan in 2011 and graduated from the Musashino Art University. Currently based in Tokyo and South Korea. Previous solo exhibitions include 'BAROQUE' AL (Tokyo, 2019) and 'dialogue' AL (Tokyo, 2017). Group exhibitions include 'Silent Resonance' Galerie Lulla (LA, 2023) and 'The Organic Society of Lines and Colours Chapter 1' UNDER the PALMO (Kanagawa, 2020).
